Wolfs in mudflow area?

I was up scouting the mudflow area this am and had about 5 possible wolves howling at 5:30 am.  Long howls not the yap of yotes as I hear those daily around my house.  Any reported sightings in the area?  I did not see them but they were within about a 150 yards of us.  They were at the 34 mile marker up the Spirit Lake HWY.  Never saw them, but they definitely didn't sound like yotes as they gave us a good howling show for about 5 minutes.

The elk we ran into were very skittish and broken up in small groups.  Last year I was able to get go photos of them, they wouldn't even let me get the camera out this time.  It should be an interesting hunt this season.

you should report that to WDFW- they might be able to trap and collar them if they are wolves.  We need to document all the packs we can.

I second the reporting, but not because the WDFW is likely to do the right thing... Do it because it People need to know not just the WDFW.

I took this pic 9/18/2011 about a 1/4 mile from Snow lake on Cold water trail 211 (boundary trail for the 522 and 524 GMU's). It had been raining all day and there were no human tracks.

I read some group dumped some wolves in that area but I do not have time to research and post.

I have een wolves with my own 2 eyes up there, I call them the "good " wolves as they werent the transplants that kill everything. Not sure about now though.

Wolves were planted in this area atleast 1 year ago. I have mentioned this before and been laughed at. It's a perfect place for them to be planted and get a good foot hold.  Why even bother letting WDFW know? they already know. We need to get good proof to prove that we know what they know. When it comes out to the public they will have some story how they migrated on their own. BS They were planted.

You are completely wrong.  They are walking there, every biologist I have spoken to is amazed at their long legged ability to expand habitat in the Cascades.  But they are not being planted.

Secret planting would be a serious violation of the EIS regulations, firmly against Congressional mandate and a conspiracy worthy of Dick Cheney.

i heard the same probably almost a year ago. also heard a couple wolfs got planted up white pass somewhere around the same time. i just thought it was rumors or gossip...

Thats crazy to think that they are here now. I hunted the mudflow last year and saw a ton of "coyote" tracks. I didnt even think to stop and look at the sizes. maybe they were not just coyote tracks?
